Blackwood Animal Shelter Is Full; Adoption Fees Slashed To $2
Homeward Bound's adoption fees can cost hundreds. But the shelter has filled up during its busiest time of the year.
BLACKWOOD, NJ — The Homeward Bound Pet Adoption Center has filled up, officials said. The shelter is making an extra push to find forever homes for its animals with a $2 adoption special.
Adoption fees will cost just $2 through Sunday as part of a back-to-school special. Normally, adoption fees for dogs and cats can reach the hundreds at the Blackwood-based animal shelter. Homeward Bound's website shows typical fees ranging from $25 for cats with special needs to $325 for specialty-breed dogs.
"We have unfortunately reached full levels at the shelter, as this is our busiest time of year," said Camden County Commissioner Jonathan Young, liaison to the animal shelter. "We need the public’s help in finding loving homes for these animals. Please, if you are able, consider opening your heart and your home to a new pet. And if you’re unable to adopt right now, the shelter is always looking for donations."
