Body Found In Delaware River

Authorities found the body of a woman in the Delaware River Friday.

The body is believed to be a Chester, Pa. woman who has been missing since March, according to the Delaware County Daily Times.

Police, firefighters and an investigator with the Delaware County Medical Examiner’s office responded to an area behind the Tinicum Fire House aroun 4 p.m. on Friday, according to the report. The body was reportedly discovered a short time before.

An investigation is pending, but Chester Police Commissioner Joseph Bail Jr. said preliminary information indicates the body is that of a woman who has not been seen since she walked away from her home on March 21, according to the report.

The body was found by a Philadelphia Police marine unit on Tinicum Island in Delaware County.
The unit then notified Delaware County and Tinicum Police, according to the Channel 6 Action News.
