Boy, 9, Drowns At Camden County Water Park: Police
A Brooklyn boy drowned at Sahara Sam's Water Park in Berlin on Tuesday, police said.
A 9-year-old boy from Brooklyn drowned at a water park in Camden County on Tuesday, according to authorities.
Berlin Township police responded to reports of an unresponsive child in a pool at the Sahara Sam’s Oasis water park on Route 73 at about 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 30, according to the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office.
The child, identified as Hersh Meilech Grossman by ABC 7 in New York, went into cardiac arrest in the pool area. He was pulled out of the pool, and lifeguards attempted to resuscitate him.

He was taken to Virtua Hospital in Voorhees, where he was pronounced deceased just after 8:30 p.m., according to the prosecutor’s office. Police said the incident appears to be an accident, and no charges have been filed at this time.
“We are deeply saddened by the incident and our prayers are with the guest’s family and friends at this difficult time,” Sahara Sam’s Director of Marketing Sharon Rushen said. “We are completing a thorough review of the incident, which occurred during a private event, and working closely with local authorities. The safety of our guests and team members is our first priority.”

Grossman was on a camping trip to the park with Belzer Talmud Torah, an Orthodox Jewish group based out of Brooklyn, according to the Courier Post. There were multiple camps at the park for an event, and there were about 750 to 800 people there at the time.
