Boy Carjacked Pizza Delivery Driver, Crashed His Car In Gloucester Twp.: Police
The suspect ordered pizza to an apartment, punched the driver in the head and jumped into his vehicle, authorities said.
GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP, NJ — A boy assaulted a pizza delivery driver, stole his vehicle and crashed it into two other cars, Gloucester Township police said Monday.
The suspect ordered pizza Oct. 20 from the 900 block of Millbridge Apartments. The driver approached the front porch at about 7:45 p.m., and the boy pretended to search his pockets for money, police said.
Then, the boy punched the victim in the head and jumped into his vehicle, authorities said. The victim tried to chase him down, but the suspect fled, crashing into two vehicles in the apartment complex, according to law enforcement.

The boy ran away. After police reached the scene, they found him running through the woods in the area. Police chased the suspect on foot and saw him removing and throwing clothing.
The suspect was arrested on Emerson Court. A Pine Hill Police K-9 team helped track him down.

The boy was charged with robbery, carjacking, motor vehicle theft, assault and resisting arrest. He was placed in the Camden County Juvenile Detention Center. Police did not disclose the suspect's age.
The delivery driver had minor injuries but refused medical treatment.
Gloucester Township police said the following:
"Food delivery businesses are urged to verify all orders when possible including to include the use of caller ID and calls to the customer to verify. Delivery drivers are urged to use caution when making deliveries to include turning off their vehicles, locking them when exiting and be aware of their surroundings."
