National Adopt a Shelter Pet Day: Jordan’s Way Launches Search for America’s Longest-Waiting Shelter

Event Details
Jordan’s Way, a live national fundraising tour that visits underfunded animal shelters and helps turn overlooked dogs into adoption stories, has launched a nationwide puzzle hunt in collaboration with escape-room creators and Dog the Bounty Hunter to help locate America’s longest-tenured shelter dog.
Timed to build momentum ahead of National Adopt a Shelter Pet Day on April 30, the interactive campaign invites the public to follow daily clues released throughout April that guide participants toward the mystery dog’s location. One participant who helps solve the search will receive a $10,000 prize and the opportunity to meet Dog the Bounty Hunter at the shelter where the dog is found.
The initiative spans more than 15,000 animal shelters and rescue organizations nationwide and aims to raise awareness about long-stay shelter dogs while encouraging adoption across the country.
