Camden County Adjusts COVID Testing Hours As Demand Drops

Camden County officials announced a change to their coronavirus testing hours at the Public Works complex as demand for testing drops.

CAMDEN COUNTY, NJ — As demand increases for the coronavirus vaccine, the demand for testing has seen a decrease, county officials said Thursday afternoon.

As a result, coronavirus testing at the Camden County Department of Public Works complex in Lindenwold will no longer be open on Saturdays, beginning March 7.

It will remain open on Tuesdays, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Charles DePalma Public Works Complex, 2311 Egg Harbor Road, Lindenwold, 08021. All other county-affiliated sites will continue to operate as scheduled.

The change is being made at a time when testing has been expanded by pharmacies, outpatient facilities and other entities throughout the county, officials said.

There has been a decrease in the number of appointments being made as the spread of the coronavirus has dipped by about 60 percent in Camden County since November, according to officials.

“We have observed a concurrent reduction in testing appointments at our sites, as cases throughout Camden County and the region have continued to fall. At this time, there is still a need for testing in our community, but the demand has diminished,” Camden County Commissioner Director Louis Cappelli Jr. said. “Testing capacity among healthcare providers and businesses like Rite Aid and CVS has increased significantly since the beginning of this pandemic. With our cases showing a decline, a reduction in hours is necessary. Rest assured, the commissioners will be standing by and will be prepared to respond if these factors change.”
