Camden County College Takes New Approach To Open Houses
Three open houses targeting specific areas are set for November.

Gloucester Township, NJ -- Camden County College is changing the way it handles the traditional college open house, college officials said on Wednesday.
The college will now hold open houses on three separate nights in November, with each night targeting a specific audience. The public is welcome to attend one, or all three.
- Nov. 3: business, computers, manufacturing, engineering, and technical careers.
- Nov. 10: careers in art, education, criminal justice, sign language, and liberal arts.
- Nov. 17: nursing, allied health, social services, addictions, and math/science transfer degrees.
“One of the official values of our college is to honor individual differences, and as an institution we have always remembered that education is not “one-size-fits-all,” Camden County College spokesperson and faculty member Julie Yankanich said. “We cannot presume to know what a student wants to do with his or her education and career, but we can provide a clear path to discovery.”

Current student leaders will “emcee” each evening, also acting as tour guides.
They will provide first-hand knowledge of the programs, but also informal opportunities for potential students to ask questions about Camden County College and get a real student perspective. Spanish-speaking college representatives will also be available.

There will also be organized tours of the state-of-the-art facilities students will use while attending the college.
Within those classrooms faculty members will provide demonstrations and take questions as well.
After the demonstrations, potential students will be able to apply, complete financial aid forms, meet career counselors, and browse course catalogs.
By the end of the evening, students will have been provided with all the information they need to discover the academic program that works best for them, thereby making a “Major Discovery,” hence the name of the program, college officials said.
