Camden County Delivers 107K Meals To Seniors In Need
Camden County has delivered 107,000 meals to seniors in need since the county expanded its program due to the coronavirus.
CAMDEN COUNTY, NJ — More than 107,000 meals have been delivered to seniors since the Camden County Division of Senior and Disabled Services expanded its meal delivery program in response to the outbreak of new coronavirus, officials announced.
In total, more than 2,900 individual seniors have received nutritious meals as they navigate the unprecedented crisis represented by coronavirus. From May 13 to May 20, the Division delivered more than 19,600 meals countywide. More meals were delivered from May 18 to May 20 (10,924) than any other three-day period since the pandemic began.
“This week marked a major milestone in our effort to ensure that every Camden County resident has access to nutritious meals, having delivered more than 100,000 meals countywide in just over two months,” Camden County Freeholder Jonathan Young said. “When we first made the decision to expand this program, we had no indication of how long this crisis would last or just how many people would need support. Thanks to the Department of Health’s proactive and practical approach to this problem, we have prevented a hunger crisis in Camden County. Our work is not done however, and we are continuing to add new clients and serve additional residents in our community.”

“This effort continues to only be possible because of the incredible men and women at the Department of Health, Parks, Buildings and Ops, and other county employees who have stepped up and made these deliveries every day,” Young said. “Our entire community owes them a debt of gratitude. They are true public servants, and Camden County would not be in the position it is today if not for their commitment to service.”
