Camden County Sees Second Fewest New Coronavirus Cases For August

CAMDEN COUNTY, NJ — Camden County announced just 17 new cases of the coronavirus countywide on Tuesday, the second fewest number of cases reported in a single day this month.

The 17 cases reported on Tuesday represented the fewest number of new cases in one day since Aug. 8, according to a chart posted on the county’s website. No new deaths were reported anywhere in the county for the fourth straight day.

“While scientists and disease experts hunt for effective treatments and a vaccine, Camden County residents can stop the spread of COVID-19 by using the tools we already know work,” Freeholder Director Louis Cappelli Jr. said. “Wear a mask, even when outdoors if possible, avoid parties and large gatherings, work with our contact tracers when they call, and stay home if you feel sick. The longer we can keep transmission of this virus down, the fewer lives we’ll lose before a vaccine is developed.”

There have been zero deaths reported in Camden County 19 days through 25 days in August. There were zero deaths reported on 25 days in August. The last time there were more than 10 deaths reported in Camden County was July 16, when 13 people died after testing positive for the coronavirus.

As of Tuesday, there were 9,620 cases of the coronavirus reported in Camden County with 554 confirmed deaths. According to the Camden County Department of Health, there are 1,357 confirmed cases among residents at the county's long-term care facilities, with 314 deaths. Another 553 cases were reported among staff members, with three deaths.

Trace investigations are underway in all new cases. The following information is currently available regarding new patients:

• An Audubon woman in her 30s;
• A Berlin man in his 70s;
• A Camden man in his 30s;
• A juvenile boy of unspecified age from Camden;
• A Camden woman in her 40s;
• A Cherry Hill man in his 20s;
• A Cherry Hill boy older than 10;
• A Cherry Hill woman in her 60s;
• A juvenile girl of unspecified age from Gloucester Township;
• A Haddonfield woman in her 50s;
• A Lawnside man in his 20s;
• A Pennsauken woman in her 20s;
• A Runnemede woman in her 30s;
• A Runnemede woman in her 50s;
• A Runnemede woman in her 60s;
• A Winslow man in his 20s; and
• A Woodlynne woman in her 40s.
