CCC Education Program Among Top 30 in Nation for Associate Degrees

Camden County College's elementary/secondary studies prepare students for classroom roles and transfer into baccalaureate programs.

Camden County College awards more associate degrees in education than all but 29 of the other two- and four-year institutions that award associate degrees in education in the United States, according to an annual analysis of federal Department of Education data conducted by Community College Week newspaper.

Using statistics from the 2013-14 term, the most recent available, the study found that Camden County College ranks 30th nationwide, tied with Henry Ford Community College in Michigan, in terms of associate degree completion in the area of education. That year, CCC awarded 85 degrees in education.

Camden County College offers an associate in science degree in elementary and secondary education. The program of study is equivalent to the first two years of a baccalaureate degree in elementary and secondary education and features a curriculum based on New Jersey State Teacher Certification requirements that is designed to facilitate transfer into bachelor’s degree studies in education at a four-year college or university. Those who complete the CCC program but choose not to continue into a baccalaureate program would still qualify for jobs as group teachers, substitute teachers and teacher’s aides.
