Clementon Man Charged in Three Gloucester Township Armed Robberies

Robert Alexander was arrested Wednesday morning after he allegedly attempted to rob a Dunkin Donuts on Blackwood-Clementon Road.

A Clementon man was charged with three armed robberies in Gloucester Township, including an attempted armed robbery in which he allegedly attempted to run from police Wednesday morning.

Robert Alexander, 27, was charged with three counts of armed robbery, unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, Gloucester Township Police said Wednesday evening.

Alexander allegedly robbed the Dunkin Donuts on Blackwood-Clementon Road at knifepoint while wearing a ski mask and gloves around 10:54 a.m. There were customers present in the store at the time of the alleged robbery, but no injuries were reported.

He allegedly fled the store on foot with an undetermined amount of cash and ran into the Millbridge Gardens Apartment complex located directly behind the Dunkin Donuts.

Gloucester Township officers who were conducting a robbery detail due to two recent reported robberies in the area allegedly saw him running through the apartment complex and immediately began pursuit.

They chased him on foot until he leaped up onto a second floor balcony of an apartment in the 100 building of the apartment complex.

He was able to get into his apartment and change his clothes.

Responding officers surrounded the building and area of the apartment.

After several minutes, officers made contact with Alexander when he attempted to leave his apartment through the front door.

They placed him under arrest.

Police also took three additional people who were in the apartment into custody. They were taken to the police department for further questioning.

In addition to the alleged Dunkin Donuts robbery, Alexander was charged in the armed robbery at Salon Pizzaro, 1253 Blackwood-Clementon Road, on Oct. 28; and a previous armed robbery at the same Dunkin Donuts on Oct. 31.

He allegedly used a knife in all three robberies.

He was remanded to the Camden County Correctional Facility in default of $750,000 full cash bail.
