Death Of Gloucester Township Man Under Investigation: Police

Joseph Bottino left his home to go hunting on Wednesday. Police found him suffering from stab wounds and blunt force injuries.

GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP, NJ — Police are investigating the death of a 54-year-old Gloucester Township man who left his home to go hunting on Wednesday and never returned.

Police were called to the 100 block of Watsontown-New Freedom Road around 6:30 p.m. Wednesday evening for a report of a deceased man, the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office said Thursday afternoon. They found Joseph Bottino dead with multiple visible injuries.

An autopsy that was held on Thursday determined that Bottino was fatally stabbed and had suffered blunt force injuries, according to the prosecutor’s office. The medical examiner’s office also determined that Bottino had been murdered.

Family members told detectives Bottino was in the area, which is a reservation, to hunt and had previously hunted in that spot many times before, according to the prosecutor’s office.
