Acting - The acting classes are designed so each student has fun, while learning different techniques and skills. These classes range from Creative Dramatics where preschoolers use their imaginations to take them to unexplored worlds through the use of creative games, music, puppetry, masks, arts and crafts, and more, to the new Acting Studio for Adults, which is designed for students looking to return to the basics and explore the depth of scenes monologues.
Voice - The private vocal coaching enable students to develop an even tone, a larger range, more strength and flexibility, and good breath support for singing.
Dance - The dance classes include Hula Dance, a gateway into the art and culture of Hawaiian dance, and Broadway Song & Dance, which combines singing and dancing to help artists become confident, well-rounded performers. Those who participate in Broadway Song and Dance have the opportunity to participate in Musical Theatre Company. The Musical Theatre Company class began last year to give kids performance opportunities. They perform holiday and musical theatre favorites around the south Jersey area.
This year, Mainstage is expanding its offerings for adults. It is continuing its Hula Fitness and Hula Dance classes. And it is adding the Acting Studio for Adults and Musical Theatre Fitness.
In Musical Theatre Fitness, students will learn routines, combinations, and warm-up to favorite musical theatre tunes that will keep them moving and singing along.
“With the Musical Theatre Fitness class and Hula Fitness, a total body workout to traditional Polynesian drumbeats and music, coming to Mainstage will better than going to the gym!” said Chris Melohn, managing, artistic, and education directer for Mainstage Center for the Arts Performing Arts Academy.
