Driver Suffering Medical Emergency Strikes Apartment Buildings in Gloucester Township: Cops
Residents were displaced from two privately-owned apartment buildings. The unidentified man was treated at the scene and released.
Two privately-owned apartment buildings were evacuated overnight after a driver who appeared to be having a medical emergency struck and broke light standards, vehicles and a gas line to a nearby apartment building on the Black Horse Pike overnight, Gloucester Township Police said Wednesday morning.
Police received a report of an erratic driver in the area of the Black Horse Pike and Church Street around 12:19 a.m.
Upon arrival, police encountered a car speeding in the rear parking area of the Palace Caterers.

The driver got out of the car and had to be restrained by police because he was allegedly acting erratically. Gloucester Township EMS arrived and helped subdue the man, who appeared to be having a medical emergency. He was treated at the scene and later released.
The residents of the apartment buildings displaced for about an hour while Gloucester Township Police Department, Blackwood Fire Department, Gloucester Township EMS, and South Jersey Gas Company along with PSE&G handled the scene.

The Black Horse Pike was closed for approximately an hour and a half during the incident until the scene was made safe.
Police didn’t release the name of the driver due to an ongoing investigation.
