The students of Clearview Regional High School are performing their spring musical, Hairspray. This tony-award winning Broadway musical includes music by Marc Shaiman and lyrics by Shaiman and Scott Wittman. It is also based on the John Waters film Hairspray. The story is centered around Tracy Turnblad, known for her high hair and love of hairspray, and her friends in 1960s America. It is the dream of the overweight Tracy to dance on camera for the popular Corny Collins Show. Once she is selected to dance on the show, she also decides she wants to help integrate it. Watch as Hairspray brings to light several social issues that plagued this moment in time. Popular songs from the show include "The Nicest Kids in Town" and “You Can’t Stop the Beat”.
