Elementary School Fire Cancels Classes In South Jersey
Workers with maintenance and construction crews were on site.
LINDENWOLD, NJ — Lindenwold Elementary School #4 is closed on Wednesday due to a fire at the building, the school district said.
Maintenance and construction crew members were on site at the time when the fire broke out on Tuesday evening.
According to the district, everyone is safe.

At around 8 p.m., firefighters responded to the school for a report of potential smoke in the area, the Lindenwold Fire Department said.
The contractors were working on the roof and air conditioning units.

Summer construction work that continued into the fall was going on at the time.
Smoke was found inside the school, leading police officials to evacuate all of the staff and workers.
Fire personnel also found a large heat source near the roof.
Helicopter footage from NBC showed the multi-vehicle emergency response at the school.
The fire was deemed to be caused by an accident, according to officials.
