Free Narcan Available In Gloucester Twp. Amid Addiction Battle
Naloxone will be available for free to residents without a prescription as part of a statewide effort to combat the opioid crisis.

GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP, NJ — The opioid overdose reversal drug naloxone (commonly called Narcan) will be available for free to residents without a prescription at four pharmacies in Gloucester Township from Sept. 24-26 as part of a statewide effort to combat the opioid crisis.
“Camden County residents can anonymously obtain two doses of naloxone at no cost to them, without an appointment or a prescription,” Camden County Freeholder Carmen Rodriguez, liaison to the Camden County Department of Health and Human Services, said. “As we battle this epidemic, the ability to quickly administer naloxone is the difference between life and death for an individual in distress.”
Naloxone blocks the opioids’ impact on the brain, thus reversing the effects of an overdose, officials said. Those who obtain naloxone will also be given information regarding addiction treatment and recovery. The naloxone will be distributed on a first-come, first-serve basis while supplies last.
