Fuel Tanker Overturns In Camden Co. Crash That Upended Traffic
The highway was closed for several hours as crews cleaned the area and removed the truck.
BELLMAWR, NJ — A truck carrying fuel overturned Saturday off the highway in Bellmawr, causing major traffic jams as crews responded to the busy area.
The tanker truck veered off Interstate 295 North and overturned at 12:42 p.m. Saturday. Hazmat crews and emergency personnel worked for several hours to clean the area and remove the tanker.
The driver was brought to the hospital for minor injuries, according to State Police.

It happened near the I-295 interchange with Route 42 and Interstate 76. There were closures on all three roadways until 9:45 p.m. that night.
Cleanup efforts included controlled burns of the natural gas that had spilled.

Just before the crash, the driver lost directional control while negotiating a curve, said Sgt. Jeffrey Lebron, a State Police spokesperson.
The crash remains under investigation.
