Furbo AI Helps Gloucester Township Police Bust Burglar: Cops

Furbo is an interactive smart dog camera that lets you see, talk, and toss treats to your dog from anywhere. It can also help fight crime.

GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP, NJ — The old saying goes “dog is man’s best friend.” Perhaps the new saying will read something like, “dog camera is a crime fighter’s dream come true.”

A burglar was recently captured by Gloucester Township police who said they identified him using Furbo, an interactive smart dog camera that lets you see, talk, and toss treats to your dog from anywhere.

The homeowners had received a notification from that Furbo that a human was inside their home while they were away, according to the Gloucester Township Police Department. The interactive device has an artificial intelligence (AI) that can distinguish activity between humans and dogs. The human in that video had broken into the home and stolen an undisclosed amount of money.

Police were able to identify the suspect in the video from the man’s distinct tattoo in the video. On Sept. 8, police arrested 47-year-old James Goodroe, of the Blackwood section of the township, in connection with the burglary and theft.

Two videos are embedded below. The first of the alleged crime described in this story. The second is a video demonstrating how Furbo works.
