Gabriela Alexander Is Gloucester Township Patch's Mom Of The Year

Happy Mother's Day! Gabriela Alexander Is Gloucester Township Patch's Mom Of The Year.

GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP, NJ — Last week we asked you to nominate a mother who you feel should be Gloucester Township Patch's Mom Of The Year in honor of Mother's Day. Isabel Alexander nominated her mother, Gabriela Alexander. She wrote the following:

"My name is Isabel Alexander and I am the daughter of a wonderful mother. My mother is Gabriela Alexander and she does so much for Gloucester Township. She is the President of Council of Schools, President of Blackwood Elementary PTO, and most importantly, a mother of three kids (four if you count my dad). While I’m at school working on this essay, I finally realize all of the things that my mom does for not only me and my family but for the students at Blackwood.

"My mom has been the president of Blackwood Elementary for the past 4 years. She gets new school supplies for students such as headphones for Chromebooks, new recess equipment such as jump ropes, and she also helps clean up around the school. When the school year starts up again, my mom is prepared to send school supplies to the students on behalf of the PTO. All year, we look for sales on those supplies to stock up. My mom also got new recess equipment. She got new jump ropes, soccer nets, basketball hoops, and benches, again on behalf of the PTO. My sister Gracie is a fourth grader this year, and she enjoys drawing on the picnic tables and benches. Every year in October, and now April too, my mom brings out families from Blackwood to help clean up the school. We repaint the games on the ground (like hopscotch), we pick up garbage around the school and across the street, and we also plant flowers around the school sign and the front of the school.

"While balancing out with the PTO, my mom does a lot at the house. She makes sure it’s always spotless. She does our laundry and folds it for us nice and neat and she leaves it on our beds. She makes sure that every single houseplant we have is watered and happy in the place it’s in (especially the one in the living room, it’s very temperamental). And every night, at 5:00 pm exactly, a nice warm dinner is made; whether its homemade pizza, pasta, or burgers on the grill, a meal is always prepared for us at the house.

"And on top of all the things I already listed, my mom is also a bus driver for Gloucester Township. My mom has been an aid for the past few years and this is her second full year as a bus driver. In the morning she drops me off at the bus stop and then proceeds to work. After school, she picks me up from lacrosse practice at Highland High School, and then we pick up my sister at drama rehearsal from C.W. Lewis Middle School. We never notice how much she drives us to places, and that’s without going out to other places.

"After writing this essay, it is safe to say my mom is a supermom. She’s pulled around to different places and yet she still has time to love and care for us. I appreciate her and I hope you can really grasp the concept of how amazing she is as a mom. I am grateful to have her and I hope she has a great Mother’s day."
