GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP, NJ — With Tuesday's primaries in the books, the general election showdown is set for Gloucester Township.

This November, residents will head to vote on several races at the local, county and state levels of government, including the Township Council election, with four seats available.

The State Senate and Assembly races in the 4th Legislative District, which includes Gloucester Township, could become some of the State Legislature's most-watched elections. Democrats have largely controlled the district since 2004, but redistricting made the area more favorable for Republican candidates.

The GOP had contested primaries in the 4th District, where the Associated Press projected Christopher Del Borrello's ticket as winners of their respective races. Del Borrello, a former Washington Township Council member, will try to flip the State Senate seat that outgoing State Sen. Fred Madden, a Democrat, has held since 2004. His ticket includes Assembly candidates Amanda Esposito and Matthew Walker.

Their victories set up a showdown with the Democratic slate, which had no primary challengers. Assembly Member Paul Moriarty is running for State Senate with Assembly hopefuls Dan Hutchison and Cody Miller. Hutchison is part of the Gloucester Township Council.
