City Hall Tower Tours

  • Where/When: Philadelphia City Hall, Broad and Market streets, Philadelphia, Monday-Friday, 9:30 a.m.-4:15 p.m.
  • What’s Going On: Way back when, City Hall used to be the tallest building in Philadelphia. A lot has changed since the 1800s. To see what the view from the City Hall Tower looks like today, Philadelphia allows tourists and locals alike to visit the tower and ride their four-person elevator up 44 stories to the City Hall observation deck. You will not have access to the bronze statue of William Penn that sits above the observation deck, but you will have an amazing view of the city. Same-day reservations are required and please note there is no handicap access to the tower.
  • Pricing: Adults, $5; students, military and seniors, $3

Hairspray

  • Where/When: Clearview Regional High School, 625 Breakneck Rd., Mullica Hill, tonight, 7:30 p.m., Friday and Saturday, 8 p.m.
  • What’s Going On: The students of Clearview Regional High School are performing their spring musical, Hairspray. This Tony Award-winning Broadway musical includes music by Marc Shaiman and lyrics by Shaiman  and Scott Wittman. The school's production is also based on the John Waters film Hairspray. The story is centered around Tracy Turnblad (known for her high hair and love of hairspray) and her friends in 1960s America. It is the dream of the overweight Tracy to dance on camera for the popular Corny Collins Show. Once she is selected to dance on the show, Tracy decides she wants to help integrate it. Watch as Hairspray brings to light several social issues that plagued this moment in time. Popular songs from the show include "The Nicest Kids in Town" and “You Can’t Stop the Beat.”
  • Pricing: Adults, $12; senior citizens, $10; students (with a valid student ID), $8  

Cats

  • Where/When: Eastern Regional High School Center for the Performing Arts, 1401 Laurel Oak Rd., Voorhees, tonight, 7:30 p.m., Friday, 7:30 p.m., Saturday, 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
  • What’s Going On: Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Tony Award-winning musical Cats had an extremely successful 18-year run on Broadway. This musical is based on a collection of feline poems called Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats by T.S. Eliot. The cats all live in a junkyard and once a year attend a cat ball, called the Jellicle Ball. You’ll meet a host of cats with unique personalities from different backgrounds. Watch the students of Eastern Regional High School do their best to recreate this amazing show.
  • Pricing: Adults, $12; senior citizens and students (with a valid student ID), $10

Breakfast with the Beatles

  • Where/When: , 200 Golfview Dr., Blackwood, Saturday, 10 a.m.-1 p.m.
  • What’s Going On: This Saturday, Valleybrook Country Club will be the place to be for sounds of the Beatles, as performed by a Beatles sing-along show, Sir Beatle. If you want to hear Beatles classics like “I Want to Hold Your Hand” and “Hey Jude” performed live, the show promises to give you the high-energy feel and similar costuming of the Beatles. An added benefit is that some proceeds from this musical breakfast will go to the American Heart Association.
  • Pricing: $20

Celebrity Comedy Bash

  • Where/When: Colleen’s, 1444 Rt. 73 North, Pennsauken, Saturday, 6 p.m. to midnight
  • What’s Going On: There’s nothing like a great Saturday night party and this one is for a cause. The West Jersey Volunteers for Animals is hosting a night of dinner (7 p.m.), comedy (8 p.m.) and dancing. Enjoy a buffet dinner, 50/50 raffle, basket auction and a cash bar. The featured funny man of the night is "Maddog" Mattern, a popular New York City comedian and emcee. A portion of the night's proceeds will go to the West Jersey Volunteers for Animals, an organization committed to saving the lives of homeless animals in southern New Jersey.
  • Pricing: $38

Tenth Annual Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts Concert 

  • Where/When: Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts' Verizon Hall, 300 S. Broad St., Philadelphia, Sunday, 3 p.m.
  • What’s Going On: If you enjoy classical music and want a soothing way to spend your Sunday afternoon, this event is ideal for you. Come out to the 10th annual Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts Concert. Luis Biava is the conductor and Temple University Combined Choirs and Symphony Orchestra will perform. Verdi's Roman Catholic funeral Mass musical arrangement Messa da Requiem will be featured.
  • Pricing: Adults, $35 or less; Students and senior citizens,  $10 (plus any applicable fees)
