Gloucester Township Council Reorganization Meeting Set For Monday

GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP, NJ — Gloucester Township will appoint a council president and council vice president during Monday night’s reorganization meeting at the municipal building, 7:30 p.m.

Under Gloucester Township’s form of government, members of council are elected by the public. Council members then choose a council president and council vice president from among their membership.

There were no elections in Gloucester Township last year, but the nominations of council president and vice president take place annually. Orlando Mercado is the current council president, and Tracey Trotto is the current vice president.

There will be four elections in 2021, with Mayor David Mayer and Council Members Dan Hutchison and Michelle Winters up for re-election. Carolyn Grace, who was appointed to council following Scott Owens’ resignation last year, will run for the seat she was appointed to in October.

The mayor’s appointments and the police chief’s list of special officers and crossing guards will also be read by the township clerk during Monday’s meeting. To view the full agenda, visit glotwp.com.
