Gloucester Township Police Safety Tips For Handling Fireworks
Gloucester Township police are offering safety tips for handling fireworks this Independence Day.
GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP, NJ — Independence Day is in a few days (I know, crazy right?), and the Gloucester Township Police Department has issued safety guidelines for handling fireworks. In June 2017, a state law was signed allowing certain types of fireworks to be sold in New Jersey. Now, they can be purchased in local stores.
“We want everyone to have a safe summer season so part of the 101 days of summer safety we want to share some quick fireworks safety tips,” Gloucester Township police said.
- Never allow children to play with or ignite fireworks;
- Read and follow all warnings and instructions;
- Be sure people are out of range before lighting fireworks;
- Only light fireworks on a smooth, flat surface away from the house, dry leaves and flammable materials;
- Never try to relight fireworks that have not fully functioned; and
- In case of a malfunction or fire, keep a bucket of water or garden hose handy in case of fire or mishap.
