Gloucester Twp. Police Collect 161 Pounds Of Prescription Drugs
Gloucester Township residents dropped off more than 150 pounds of unwanted prescription drugs as part of Drug Take Back Day Saturday.

GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP, NJ — Gloucester Township police collected more than 150 pounds of unwanted prescription drugs during its recent Take Back Day event, police said on Tuesday.
Gloucester Township residents dropped off 161 pounds of unwanted medications during the Gloucester Township Police/ Drug Enforcement Administration's 19th National Take Back Initiative on Saturday, according to police.
Anyone who missed the event always has the chance to drop off unused and unwanted prescription medications at the police department’s Project Medicine Drop box.

The drop box is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week in the police department's watch desk area. No liquids or syringes are accepted.
In 2019, 882,919 pounds of unused and expired medication was collected for proper disposal during National Take Back Day. Authorities estimate that about 9.9 million Americans misuse controlled prescription drugs a year.
