Highland Baseball Team Snaps Losing Streak Against Williamstown

A look at some early season baseball and softball action in Gloucester Township.

GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP, NJ - All good things come to an end. Bad things, too. One of those things happened this week when the Highland Regional High School baseball team defeated Williamstown for the first time since 2012, according to nj.com.

Highland defeated Williamstown, 6-4, to snap a 10-game losing streak. Todd Cavallaro picked up the win, striking out four batters, walking four and allowing two hits and two runs in 2.1 innings of work. Dylan Maria pitched four innings, striking out six, allowing six hits and two runs and walking one. Maria and Mark Cotton each drove in two runs in the win.

Triton defeated Deptford, 11-4, according to nj.com. Mike Shannon picked up the win with 10 strikeouts against just five hits and one walk. He gave up one run. Ryan Spraggins had four RBI.

Camden Catholic defeated Timber Creek, 6-5, according to nj.com. Timber Creek jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning, but Camden Catholic scored five in the bottom of the second and never looked back.

The Highland Regional High School softball team is 1-1. On Opening Day, the Tartans defeated Williamstown, 18-5, according to nj.com. Nerina Tramp was the winning pitcher with eight strikeouts. She allowed four hits and five runs, and walked two batters. Kamryn Kennedy was 3-for-3 with three runs and three RBI.

The following day, Highland fell to St. Joe (Hammonton), 13-0, according to nj.com.
