Highland Football Team Caps Program's Best Season With Thanksgiving Day Win Over Triton

Highland won 48-7.

Gloucester Township, NJ -- The Highland Regional High School football team capped its most successful season in the program’s history with a 48-7 win over Triton on Thanksgiving, according to nj.com.

Highland was 9-2 this year. Its win over Triton gave the Tartans the West Jersey Football League-Royal Division title, according to the report.

Highland also picked up its first playoff win in school history this season.

Daejuan Sanders and Orlando Council each had two touchdowns in the win.

Sanders had touchdown runs of 11 and 19 yards, and Council scored on runs of 1 and 2 yards.

Joe Tripoli intercepted a pass and returned it 20 yards for a score, and Matt McBride had a 9 yard touchdown run for Highland.

Brandon Paradise capped the scoring with a 4-yard touchdown run in the fourth.

Triton scored first with a 5-yard touchdown pass from Alec Thomas to Gian Liccketto in the first quarter. The Mustangs were 3-7 this season.

It was the first meeting between the teams on Thanksgiving since 2001, in a Turkey Day rivalry that dates back to 1971.
