Highland Regional Baseball Team Advances in Playoffs
Highland defeated district rival Triton, while Timber Creek fell to Lacey.

Gloucester Township, NJ -- While all three Black Horse Pike Regional School District baseball teams qualified for the NJSIAA South Jersey Group 3 playoffs, only one remains in the running for a title after the first round on Monday.
That team is second-seeded Highland Regional, which slipped past district rival and No. 15 seed Triton, 7-6, according to nj.com.
With the game tied at 3-3, the Tartans exploded for four runs in the bottom of the fifth inning, powered by Colin Bishop’s two-run double. Billy Jackson broke the tie with a sacrifice fly in the inning.

Christian Scafidi picked up the win on the mound, putting the brakes on an attempted Triton comeback with a strikeout to end the game with two runners on after Triton scored three runs in the seventh.
Scafidi struck out a total of four runners, as he pitched in relief.

Triton struck first with two runs in the top of the second, and held a 3-1 lead before Highland tied the game with two runs in the bottom of the fourth.
Highland will host No. 7 Seneca in the quarterfinals on Thursday. Seneca defeated No. 10 Toms River East, 10-8, on Monday.
Meanwhile, No. 5 Timber Creek was upset by No. 12 Lacey, 5-3, in 10 innings. The game was tied at 1-1 heading into the 10th, when Lacey outscored Timber Creek, 4-2, to take the win.
