Highland Regional Wrestler Off To Hot Start

Devon Starks is undefeated, and won three matches at the Dan Trainer Duals in Collingswood, according to nj.com.

GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP, NJ — A year after missing out on placing during last year’s state championships, Highland Regional High School wrestler Devon Starks is off to a hot start.

Starks, who wrestles at 220 pounds, went 3-0 at the Dan Trainer Duals in Collingswood over the weekend, according to nj.com. He pinned Kyle Chandler, of Holy Cross, in one minute, 32 seconds, and Eastern’s Benjamin Sperling in 2:45. He also defeated Collingswood’s Billy Plianthos, 12-3. The team placed second, falling to Eastern in the finals.

Overall, he appears to be 4-0, as he pinned Jaylen Shanklin in 4:45 in the Tartans’ loss to Kingsway, according to nj.com. Highland is 3-2 this season. Highland returns to the mat at Williamstown on Jan. 17, 6 p.m.
