Hit-And-Run Seriously Injures Pedestrian; Driver Sought: Gloucester Twp. Police

GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP, NJ — An unknown driver struck and seriously injured a pedestrian in Gloucester Township, fleeing the scene, authorities said. Police are working to identify the suspect.

Officers responded just before 2:30 a.m. Thursday to the collision on Erial Road, by Blackwood-Clementon Road. The victim was brought to a nearby hospital, where they are receiving treatment as of early Thursday afternoon, police said.

Police withheld the victim's identity, pending family notification. Their current condition is unclear.

The driver fled the scene immediately after the crash, police said. Their vehicle was last seen traveling southeast on Erial Road, toward Davistown Road.

"The suspect vehicle is believed to be as a dark-colored SUV, possibly with front-end/drivers side damage as a result of the collision," police said.

The Gloucester Township Police Serious Crash Investigation Team is investigating the incident. Erial Road was closed between Blackwood-Clementon Road and Argyle Avenue for several hours as authorities investigated the scene.
