Iraq War Vet Serves As Gloucester Township Police SRO

GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP, NJ — In the aftermath of a shooting that killed 17 people at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, there has been a lot of discussion about armed police officers in schools, and even arming teachers, in schools.

The Gloucester Township Police Department has been introducing the public to its School Resource Officers (SRO), and Patch is featuring their profiles. Today's profile is of Kevin Schultz.

"Ptl. Kevin Schultz grew up in Gloucester Township, graduated Triton High School, and received an Associate’s Degree from Camden County College," according to the Gloucester Township Police Department. "He served in the United States Marine Corps, achieving the rank of Sergeant, and was deployed to Iraq as a member of Task Force Military Police during Operation Iraqi Freedom. From 2010 to 2012, he served with the SEPTA Transit Police in Philadelphia, prior to being hired with the Gloucester Township Police Department in 2012. He is currently assigned as the Roving School Resource Officer for the Central Schools of the Township which consists of Charles W. Lewis Middle school, Blackwood and Gloucester Township Elementary schools. He is also a Field Training Officer, Military Liaison Officer, Honor Guard Unit Member, and a Designated Marksman/Observer for the Special Response Team. He is married with two children whom he enjoys spending time with on his days off. His hobbies include physical fitness and outdoor activities."
