Join Mainstage in a Summer Season filled with adventure

Gloucester Township, NJ -- Excitement and fun abound all summer long in Mainstage Center for the Arts’ (MCA) 28th year of Summer Stage. This year’s Children’s Theatre season includes: Peter Pan; Seussical, Jr.; James and the Giant Peach, Jr.; and Disney Journeys, a Musical Revue.

The Children’s Theatre season kicks off July 13-15 with a journey to Neverland where Peter Pan introduces Wendy, John, and Michael to Tinkerbell and the Lost Boys. Peter Pan is sponsored by Precision Power Wash.

Then, the pages of Dr. Seuss’ beloved stories come alive in Seussical, Jr., featuring a cast of colorful characters. Seussical, Jr., sponsored by Bowman & Company, runs July 20 – 22.

Next, audiences will sail across the ocean on a giant piece of fruit with James and the Giant, Peach, Jr., sponsored by First Bank and Precision Powerwash, July 27-29.

The season wraps up August 3-5 as Disney Journeys, a Musical Revue take the stage. This enchanting musical revue includes medleys from Frozen, Beauty and the Beast, and Pocahontas, and is sponsored by Beneficial Bank and PostNet.

“We’re so excited to present a season full of children’s favorites. Our young friends always delight in seeing Peter Pan and the children take flight from the nursery. They also love looking up on stage and seeing characters from their often-read story books like Cat in the Hat and Horton the Elephant from the Doctor Seuss collection and James from James and the Giant Peach. It’s going to be a delightful summer at Mainstage,” said Anne Marie Weaver, MCA Director of Special Projects.

In addition to the Children’s Theatre Season, MCA will present its annual summer Mainstage production, Titanic, the Musical.

This internationally acclaimed musical examines the lives of the passengers aboard the doomed luxury liner Titanic — those in first class, second class and steerage, in the nights leading up the ship’s fatal encounter with an iceberg at sea.

Winner of five Tony Awards when it appeared on Broadway, Titanic the Musical, runs July 23, 29, and 30, 7:30 pm and July 24, 2 p.m. in the Dennis Flyer Theatre, Camden County College, Blackwood. Titanic, the Musical is sponsored by First Bank and Meadows Diner.

Mainstage’s ticket prices for Children’s Theatre performances are offered at the low price of $10 for children/senior citizens and $11 for adults. Public performances for each show are 7:30 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday and 10:30 a.m. Friday.

The Thursday evening performances of Peter Pan and James and the Giant Peach are sign interpreted. Titanic, the Musical is $13 for children 12 and under; $16 for seniors/students ages 13 to 18, and $18 for adults. Group prices are available for both the Children’s Theatre productions and Titanic, the Musical.

In addition to the Summer Stage Children’s productions, the young participants in Summer Stage’s Broadway Babies (entering kindergarten and first grade), Kids Stuff (entering second and third grades) and Apprentice (entering fourth and fifth grades) also receive the opportunity to perform.

Apprentice will present School House Rock, Jr. on August 7. Broadway Babies and Kids Stuff will present musical revues on July 16 and August 6. Also the Video Film Production students will present their own original short films in a Film Premier, Friday, August 5 at 7:30 p.m.
