The Labor Movement

The Labor Movement

The labor movement is a cornerstone of economic fairness and democratic society. It exists to ensure that the people whose work sustains businesses and communities are treated with dignity, paid fairly, and protected from exploitation. From securing the eight-hour workday to advancing workplace safety standards, labor organizing has historically improved conditions not
only for union members but for workers as a whole.

In today’s economy, the labor movement remains essential. As productivity rises and corporate profits grow, many workers still face stagnant wages, insecure jobs, and limited benefits. Collective bargaining gives workers a voice in decisions that directly affect their lives, helping to rebalance power between employers and employees. Strong labor protections also strengthen the middle class, reduce inequality, and promote economic stability.

Supporting the labor movement means supporting a fairer economy—one where hard work is
rewarded, rights are respected, and prosperity is shared rather than
concentrated at the top.
