Council also introduced a proposed ordinance to vacate Maple Avenue to allow PSE&G to expand a substation currently in the area. PSE&G already owned property on one side of the street, and recently purchased property on the other side, according to officials.
The street is a dead-end street, and the electric company will now own all the property in that area. Council unanimously approved that proposal. Gloucester Township Council will meet next on Sept. 14.
