Gloucester Township Little League Parades Canceled

Two parades scheduled for Saturday have been canceled.

GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP, NJ — Both the Erial and Blackwood Kiwanis Little League Parades that were scheduled for Saturday have been canceled due to inclement weather, Gloucester Township Police said Friday evening.

ORIGINAL: Saturday, April 1, is opening day for Little League across the country. In Gloucester Township, that includes Erial and Blackwood.

Erial Little League’s Opening Day Parade begins at the clubhouse at 7:45 a.m. Erial Road will be closed between Hickstown Road and Garwood Road between 8 a.m. and 8:45 a.m. for the parade. Williamstown Road will also be closed between Erial Road and Jarvis Road until the parade enters Essex Avenue.

Gloucester Township Police are setting up a marked detour of Erial-Clementon Road to Hickstown Road for Erial Road northbound. Erial Road southbound’s detour will be Hickstown Road to Erial-Clementon Road. Residents who live on Williamstown Road between Jarvis Road and Erial Road can access their homes from Jarvis Road.

Blackwood Kiwanis Little League’s Opening Day Parade begins at begins at 8:00 am in the Rite Aid parking lot on the Black Horse Pike (Route 168) and proceeds south to Marshall Avenue. The parade ends at the Kiwanis Little League field located on Railroad Avenue.

It is followed by a brief ceremony before the opening slate of games commences at 10:30 a.m.

During the parade, the Black Horse Pike will be temporarily closed to all traffic from Church Street to Davistown Road between 8 a.m. and 9 a.m.

Additionally, no parking will be allowed on the Black Horse Pike between Church Street and Marshall Avenue.

Drivers are encouraged to follow the marked detour route to avoid delays. Officers will also be stationed at closure points to assist with directions.

The detour route is as follows:

Southbound Route 168 to Church Street to Erial Road to Davistown Road to Route 168; and

Northbound Route 168 to Davistown Road to Erial Road to Church Street to Route 168.

Drivers are asked to use caution when in the area. To avoid delays, drivers should seek an alternate route of travel.
