Mainstage to Honor Lorena Melcher at Cultural Alliance Awards

Mainstage Center for the Arts will honor Lorena Melcher during the South Jersey Cultural Alliance's Paul Aiken Encore Award ceremony May 24.

Gloucester Township, NJ -- Each year, the South Jersey Cultural Alliance (SJCA) holds the Paul Aiken Encore Awards to honor the generosity of individuals, corporations, foundations and government agencies for their support of the region’s nonprofit arts, history and cultural organizations and artists located in southern New Jersey. SJCA invites member organizations to nominate a representative to receive an award.


Mainstage Center for the Arts’ (MCA) will honor its nominee, Lorena Melcher, with an Encore during the May 24 ceremony. The event begins at 6 p.m. with a reception at the Annata Wine Bar, Hammonton followed by the awards ceremony, 7 p.m. at the Eagle Theatre, Hammonton.

On the nomination, Joe Bretschneider, MCA Executive Director, wrote, “Lorena Melcher is what every non-profit needs: a volunteer who is thrilled by our mission, and does everything in her power to make sure it happens. ‘Momma Melch’ to the Harmony Show Choir, takes care of the kids and the staff, keeps the records, and make sure the word gets out for the next performance. Lorena fund raises for Harmony to help them pay for their tour to places like Disney World, and last year, Honolulu. She also types the letters thank all Mainstage’s donors and fundraises for the whole organization too, through events like Designer Bag Bingo.”

MCA’s Harmony Show Choir will perform during the award ceremony. The Harmony Show Choir is an auditioned only group of high school-age performers from the Southern New Jersey area. They are professionally staged and choreographed in a high energy, family oriented musical revue. Harmony brings entertainment and great music to the region at festivals, community events, private events, parades, and more.
