Man Found Guilty Of Killing Music Producer At Recording Studio In Camden Co.

The suspect, Ronin A. Nevels, later got into a SWAT team standoff when he barricaded himself in a local home.

CAMDEN COUNTY, NJ — A man was found guilty Thursday of murdering a music producer at a recording studio three years ago in Lindenwold.

In September 2022, Ronin A. Nevels fatally shot Isaiah Shaw at IAO Recording Studios in Lindenwold, officials said. Nevels was arrested the next day after he barricaded himself in a Gloucester Township home and got into a standoff with the SWAT team.

Police responded to the studio after the victim was shot in the head. Shaw, 23, of Winslow Township, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Detectives identified Nevels as the shooter through witness statements and other collected evidence.

One day later, Nevels barricaded himself in a Gloucester Township home that wasn't his own. After a standoff involving the SWAT team, Nevels surrendered himself and was arrested.

Nevels, 25, of Lindenwold, was found guilty Thursday of first-degree murder, second-degree unlawful possession of a weapon, second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and fourth-degree criminal trespass.

The verdict came after a four-week jury trial in Camden County Superior Court. Sentencing is scheduled for Sept. 11.

Shaw was a music producer who also went by DJ Zay.
