Man Fled Police During Traffic Stop In Gloucester Township: Cops
A man fled a traffic stop and fled into a Glendora neighborhood, where he hid in a backyard shed, Gloucester Township police said.
GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP, NJ — A Philadelphia man was arrested after he tried to run from police during a traffic stop Friday afternoon, according to Gloucester Township police.
Police said they attempted to stop 42-year-old Nicholas M. Oteri after receiving reports of an erratic driver on North Black Horse Pike at about 4 p.m. Friday.
They stopped Oteri, who was driving a silver Chrysler 300 with Pennsylvania registration, in front of the Dunkin Donuts on the Black Horse Pike, police said.

When the officer approached the car, though, Oteri sped off into a residential area in Glendora, police said. Oteri hit a parked car and a curb on Central Avenue before turning onto North Otter Branch Drive, police said.
When Oteri stopped on Eastwood Drive, a resident approached his car. The resident later told police that Oteri was in a “manic state,” and appeared to have a handgun.

Oteri ran off into the Glendora area, police said. Additional officers and detectives joined the search.
While this was happening, a resident reported a suspicious person had gone into their backyard shed, police said.
Officers went to the house, found Oteri hiding in the shed, and a foot chase ensued, police said.
Police eventually captured Oteri and arrested him. They took him to police headquarters, where police said he gave a full confession.
No firearms were recovered during the investigation, and Oteri was found to be in possession of a cellular phone, police said.
Oteri was charged with eluding and resisting arrest, and was issued multiple traffic tickets.
