Man Kills Ex, Then Himself In South Jersey: Police

The man and woman were flown to the hospital and later pronounced dead in an apparent murder-suicide, authorities said.

VINELAND, NJ — A man shot a woman and then himself in an apparent murder-suicide Monday in Vineland, according to the Cumberland County Prosecutor's Office.

Police responded just after 6 p.m. to a report of shots fired at a Roosevelt Boulevard home. Officers discovered a 21-year-old woman and 22-year-old man suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. They were flown to Cooper Hospital and later pronounced dead, authorities said.

The initial investigation revealed that the man shot the woman before shooting himself, officials said. They were previously in a relationship but weren't married, according to law enforcement.

Police identified the woman (M.R.) and man (J.C.S.) through initials because of privacy restrictions on domestic-violence matters.

The preliminary findings are subject to autopsy results, police said. Vineland police and the Cumberland County Major Crimes Unit continue to investigate.
