A Clementon man led a Gloucester Township police officer on a pursuit over snow-covered roads in two towns Monday, police said.
GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP, NJ — A Clementon man was arrested after Gloucester Township police say he led them on a pursuit through snow-covered roads in two towns on Monday.
A Gloucester Township police officer attempted to stop an older model red Chevrolet Pickup truck with a dark gray tailgate after the driver committed multiple traffic violations along Blackwood-Clementon Road Monday afternoon, police said.
The driver, later identified as 41-year-old Andre Pitts, refused to pull over, and the officer couldn’t read his license plate because it was covered in snow, police said.

Even though the officer had his emergency lights and siren on, Pitts refused to pull over on the shoulder or in any of the parking lots along the road, police said.
Pitts drove into Pine Hill, and eventually pulled over onto the shoulder, police said. However, when the officer pulled up behind him, he took off, police said.

The officer stopped the pursuit due to concerns over road conditions, police said. A description of the car was given to neighboring police departments.
Pine Hill police helped identify the car and the driver, and went to the apartment complex in which Pitts lived, police said. Pitts admitted he was driving the car and had refused to pull over, police said.
Pitts was arrested and charged with third-degree eluding and several traffic violations, police said. He was released on a criminal summons, pending court.
