Man Shot Outside South Jersey Church: Prosecutor

Dante Brown was shot outside a church in Camden Tuesday morning.

Police are investigating a fatal shooting that took place outside a South Jersey church Tuesday morning, Camden County Prosecutor Mary Eva Colalillo and Camden County Police Chief Scott Thomson announced. A group of people flagged down at Camden County Police officer near the intersection of Ferry Avenue and Kossuth Street at about 10 a.m. on Sept. 18 to report that a man had been shot, police said.

The officer found 31-year-old Donte Brown, of Camden, laying on the ground after having been shot, police said. He was transported to Cooper University Hospital and was later pronounced deceased at about 12:52 p.m. The investigation into the shooting is ongoing. No arrests had been made as of Wednesday afternoon.

The shooting took place outside the Ferry Avenue United Methodist Church while food was being distributed, the Courier Post reports. No one else was hurt in the shooting. An elementary school and a library are also in the area.
