Man Tried, Failed To Steal Car From Gloucester Twp. Auto Dealer: Cops

He manipulated transmissions and tried to steal car keys, police said. Ultimately, he fled on a bike and got arrested.

GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP, NJ — A man was charged after unsuccessfully trying to steal a vehicle Monday from a Gloucester Township car dealership, police said.

Daniel T. Durr damaged several vehicles in the Auto Addictions lot by manipulating the transmissions, authorities said. He did so in an attempt to move cars around clear space so he could take one from the Black Horse Pike business, according to law enforcement.

Durr also broke the window of the office building's front door and entered to look for some of the vehicles' keys, police said.

He ultimately fled the area on a bicycle, and police later found him.

Durr, 46, of Pennsauken, was charged with burglary (third-degree), attempted theft (third-degree), criminal mischief (fourth-degree), possession of burglary tools (disorderly persons offense) and two additional counts of criminal mischief (disorderly persons offense).

He was placed in the Camden County Correctional Facility.
