National Night Out Kickoff Meeting Set for Gloucester Township

Gloucester Township, NJ -- It’s that time of year again.

The Gloucester Township Police Department will host its annual National Night Out Kickoff meeting in the council room of the Gloucester Township Municipal Building on March 24, 7 p.m.

Any Gloucester Township resident interested in hosting a National Night Out event in their neighborhood is invited to attend.

National Night Out is an initiative in which people in towns across the country gather at their homes, on their streets, and at their local community centers in recognition of their support of the community.

National Night Out helps strengthen the partnership between the community and police.

“Residents and communities that participate in National Night Out send a message that they are organized and not willing to stand for criminal activity occurring in their neighborhood,” police said in a statement Thursday morning. “A National Night Out event in your neighborhood can consist of just two neighbors meeting on their front lawns, an organized block party of several neighbors occurring on a closed street, or a full neighborhood event at a local community center. Whether it is just a few neighbors meeting in front of their homes or an entire community coming together, the outcome of a stronger community is the same.”

This year’s event is set for Tuesday, Aug. 2.
