Final N.J. Snow Totals, Town-By-Town, Plus Weekend Forecast

The snow blanketed New Jersey on Thursday. Below is a list of snow inch counts in N.J. towns, plus a somewhat surprising weekend forecast.

The predictions may have fallen a little short of the blizzard-like conditions some expected. But the snowstorm that hit New Jersey on Thursday fell pretty steadily across the state - and it piled pretty high in many places

Patch has the list of snow-inch counts provided for as many towns as possible (see below) as New Jersey deals with a weekend weather forecast that should provide some relief to the state's snow-weary residents.

The highest measurements were in North Jersey, where as many as 11 inches fell in Sussex County. But the state's central and southern areas didn't escape the storm's wrath, where as many as 7 inches fell in Holmdel.

For some, the snow seemed to fall far short of expectations - especially along the Jersey Shore, where schools canceled the day before but then woke up to only 2 inches.

Perhaps the situation was best summed up by former National Weather Service meteorologist Gary Szatkowski, who said this on Twitter: "Some people are saying: 'OMG, look at this snowstorm!' Others are saying 'OMG, I'm looking for the snowstorm.'"

But Sarah Johnson, an NWS meteorologist, said the storm didn't disappoint - it just didn't impact some parts of the state as early as expected.

"It evolved as expected. But there was quite a bit of uncertainty about the transition in some areas from rain to snow," she said.
