GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP, NJ — Local officials will hold a public hearing next month about a proposed multi-use trail. The Lakeland Road Multi-Use Path would cross Gloucester Township's main trail system.

The public can learn more, ask questions and provide comments at 10 a.m. April 6 in the Municipal Building's Gloucester Township Council Room (1261 Chews Landing Rd., Clementon). The public can submit written comments on the proposed application to Township Engineer Anthony Chadwell at anthony.chadwell@rve.com.

The township received funds to design and construct the multi-use path that will run along Lakeland Road from the Black Horse Pike (Route 168) commercial district to Camden County’s bike-share facility in the Lakeland Complex. The Lakeland Road Multi-Use Path would cover about 0.2 miles.

"The connection to the Black Horse Pike is a key component to using the trail system to access commercial sites, the bus route that runs along the Black Horse Pike and for employment opportunities," the township says. "The connection to the County’s bike share facility will offer increased opportunity for recreational use of the system."

Funding comes from the Transportation Alternatives Set-Aside program, which uses federal funds for community-based, "non-traditional" surface transportation projects.
