Rep. Donald Norcross (D-1) has joined a growing number of lawmakers calling for President Donald Trump to be removed from office.

“President Trump should resign in disgrace following yesterday’s terrible events,” Norcross said Thursday afternoon. “I take my oath to our nation very seriously, and I support our Constitutional rights to remove Trump from office as soon as possible.”

House members have called for the president to leave office, either through impeachment or the activation of the 25th Amendment.

Rep. Ilhan Omar drafted articles of impeachment after a pro-Trump mob stormed their way into the U.S. Capitol on Wednesday to halt the Electoral College certification of Joe Biden as the next President of the United States.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said the 25th Amendment should be invoked to remove Trump from office, if not "Congress may be prepared to move forward with impeachment."

Norcross has been consistent in his position that Trump should be removed from office throughout the course of his administration.

Last year, Norcross was one of 10 members of the New Jersey delegation to vote in favor of impeaching Trump, and charge him with abusing his office and obstructing Congress.

As early as May 2019, he said Trump needs to be held accountable for stonewalling Congressional investigations into possible collusion with Russia during the 2016 elections.

On Wednesday, Capitol Police evacuated members of Congress as violence escalated when a pro-Trump mob breached the U.S. Capitol.

Members of Congress resumed the electoral count at 8 p.m. ET., after the Capitol was secured.
Four people were reportedly dead after Wednesday's mayhem, and the city is under mandatory curfew extended through Jan. 21.

The Capitol was stormed after Trump told a crowd of protesters at a rally that he would never concede.

In a televised broadcast around the same time, President-Elect Biden said the chaos unfolding on Capitol Hill was "disorder, not dissent," and urged Trump to "step up."
