Pedestrian Dies After He's Hit By Car In South Jersey
Police said the 78-year-old Vineland man was walking near North Main Road when he was hit by an SUV.
VINELAND, NJ — A man died Wednesday when he was hit by a car while attempting to cross a street in Vineland, authorities said.
According to Vineland police, the incident happened shortly after 5 p.m. in the area of North Main Road and Fairmount Avenue. Police said a Cadillac SRX driven by a 56-year-old Vineland woman made a left turn from Fairmount Avenue to head south on Main Road when she struck the pedestrian as he was crossing the street.
The man — identified by police as 78-year-old George Chryssomitis of Vineland — suffered serious injuries in the crash. He died at the scene, police said.

No charges have been filed and the collision remains under investigation.
