Rabid Raccoon Found in Lindenwold

Two people were possibly exposed to the rabid raccoon while it was separated from another animal, authorities say.

GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP, NJ — A rabid raccoon was recently discovered in the Lindenwold section of the township, according to a Camden County press release.

The raccoon had attacked a family dog on March 19, authorities say. Two people were possibly exposed to the rabid animal during the attempts to separate it from the dog, authorities continued.

The dog, who authorities say had received a rabies vaccine recently, will be observed and confined for 45 days to ensure it did not contract rabies from the raccoon, the press release said.
