'Reckless' ATV Driver Seriously Injured From Falling Off Vehicle In Gloucester Twp.: Cops
The vehicle, which was illegally operated on the roadway, continued unmanned and crashed into the woods, authorities said.
GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP, NJ — A person sustained serious injuries after falling off their all-terrain vehicle, which they illegally and recklessly drove Friday evening on the Black Horse Pike, according to Gloucester Township police.
The operator was ejected from the four-wheel ATV because of their reckless driving, police said. The unmanned vehicle continued northbound on the Black Horse Pike before crashing into the woods, according to the preliminary investigation from law enforcement.
It happened at about 6:35 p.m. at the intersection with Clementon Avenue, police said.

Several concerned citizens quickly aided the driver and alerted emergency services. The driver, who police haven't publicly identified, was brought to a local hospital with serious injuries.
No other vehicles were hit.

No charges were filed as of Friday night, but the township police department's Serious Crash Investigation Team continues to examine the incident. The driver's identity has been withheld pending further investigation and notifications.
Designed for off-road use, ATVs aren't street legal New Jersey and most states.
"Careless operation of these vehicles can lead to severe crashes and injuries," said the Gloucester Township Police Department. "We urge all ATV riders to adhere to the law and operate their vehicles responsibly."
