Crash Kills Woman, Injures 4 In West Deptford: Police
A passenger was ejected from one of the vehicles and sustained fatal injuries from the highway collision, authorities said.
WEST DEPTFORD, NJ — A person was killed and four others were injured during a highway crash Thursday in West Deptford, authorities said.
State troopers responded to the collision at 6:58 p.m. on Interstate 295. A Dodge passenger vehicle struck the back of a Chevy pickup truck as both vehicles traveled northbound, according to the preliminary investigation from State Police.
The Chevy ran off the road to the right, hit the guardrail and overturned, said Tpr. Troy McNair. A passenger in the Chevy sustained fatal injuries during the collision sequence.

Police identified the decedent as Cassandra Ashmeade, 38, of Philadelphia.
Both drivers sustained "serious" injuries, while two passengers of the Dodge had "minor" injuries, McNair said. All were taken to a local hospital.

The crash remains under investigation.
